Jeep has made strides electrifying its lineup with 4XE plugin hybrid versions of the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee, but it hasn't had an all electric SUV in its lineup until now.
This is the all new 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, and it's a two row SUV that fills that void. But unlike some of the 4XE models that it offers, which have considerable off-road capability, the Wagoneer S is really geared towards on-road performance. This is our first chance to see the Wagoneer S, so let's take a closer look at some of its unique attributes. The Wagoneer S uses the new platform that also underpins the new Dodge Charger EV. It features front and rear electric motors and a hundred kilowatt hour lithium ion battery pack that's good for 600 horsepower and 617 pounds feet of torque. Jeep says the Wagoneer S can go from zero to 60 in just 3.4 seconds, which is a little bit quicker than the old Jeep Grand Cherokee Track Hawk. The estimated driving range on a full charge is around 300 miles, and the Jeep Wagoneer S has combined efficiency of around 99 miles per gallon equivalent. In terms of charging on level two home service, Jeep says you can expect to charge from five to 80% in around seven hours, or DC fast charge from 20 to 80% in as little as 23 minutes under ideal conditions. The Wagoner S has a sleek exterior look, but it's still recognizable as a Jeep, but it does have the best drag coefficient ever of a Jeep at 0.29. Some other arrow cues include flush mounted door handles, underbody shields, and unique side sills. But upfront, you have an illuminated version of Jeep's signature seven slot grill, and around back there's a cantilever rear spoiler that's also designed to improve aerodynamics and the launch edition that arrives first features 20 inch gloss black wheels, and also gloss black and gray exterior hues around the vehicle. The interior of the Wagoneer S brings some of the design cues from the brand's larger Grand Wagoneer to this new EV SUV. You can see it up front on the dashboard where there are four screens. There's one for the driver's display, a central one for the infotainment system, one below that for the comfort display that has climate controls, and also a screen for your front passenger. In addition to that, there's also a 10 inch head up display. Another Grand Wagoneer cue is what Jeep calls the cross car wing, which features a metal trim that extends across the dashboard. A new feature, at least in Jeep, is the electronic door releases in the interior and the launch edition has customizable LED ambient lighting with 64 selectable colors. There are heated ventilated front and rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof, and also a McIntosh sound system. The launch edition of the Wagoneer S arrives at Jeep dealerships this fall with a starting price of $71,995, including destination.
