The 2025 Volvo XC60 carries over unchanged from 2024, continuing to offer a five-seat layout with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. Pricing starts at $48,345 (all prices include destination), placing it among competitors like the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lincoln Corsair and Mercedes-Benz GLC. We’ve been impressed with previous XC60s in this generation, as Volvo’s mid-size SUV combines minimalist design with a focus on safety and practicality, reflecting Volvo’s established approach to the luxury SUV segment.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

The 2025 XC60 lineup retains the 247-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system in B5 variants. Plug-in hybrid T8 models offer 455 hp and an EPA-estimated 36 miles of all-electric range. All models include an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

Pricing

Starting prices for the 2025 Volvo XC60, including the $1,295 destination fee, are as follows:

  • B5: $48,345
  • T8 PHEV: $59,345

Trim Levels

The XC60 is offered in three trims: Core, Plus and Ultra. The Core trim serves as the entry point, delivering features like a panoramic moonroof and a suite of standard safety technology, which includes forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring with steering assist, cross-traffic alert and lane departure steering assist. Stepping up to the Plus trim adds conveniences such as Volvo’s Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, as well as upgraded interior lighting and a 360-degree camera. The Ultra trim is the most equipped, including luxuries like a Harman Kardon premium sound system, an air purifier for improved cabin air quality, ventilated front seats and a head-up display.

The XC60 lineup also includes the Black Edition, offered in the Ultra trim for both gas and PHEV models, which features blacked-out design elements. For those prioritizing performance, the Polestar Engineered variant — available only with the PHEV — adds chassis tuning and other upgrades tailored for sportier driving.

All trims feature Google Built-In, Apple CarPlay, heated front seats and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

I have driven Volvos for a very long time.

I have driven Volvos for a very long time. My 2002 V70XC was my absolute favorite. I just donated it. My first impression was the dealer and I went with one closest to my home. My big mistake. THE CAR - for an SUV the seats sit very low and are not very adjustable. The gear shift functionality is very difficult to get used to - and all the alarms. Being a mechanical engineer, I liked, no, loved the older Volvos for their functionality and interior space. The XC60 has very little cargo space. There are too many bells and whistles you need to QR scan the visor for the manual! The mpg are pitiful - I am getting maybe 15 mpg, with little pick up- the 4 liter engine is not as good as the predecessors. I was worried about the no "cold weather package" - all volvos anywhere have the same battery and the sales guy had no idea what cold cranking meant. HOWEVER, I must say when we had an ice storm and the car was a solid piece of ice the doors opened and the car started right up. BUT it did take 30 minutes + to warm up the windshield to get rid of the ice. AND my hands were so cold trying to scrape the ice off - they were too cold for the display to read my touch! The sales rep was so proud of the heated windshield wipers (?) -I prefer being able to raise the wipers during a snow storm. Here you have to put the wipers in maintenance mode and then move them out. Too many steps to get basics done (and have warm hands). I also can't stand the smudged touch screen from all the swiping and touching. Just looks dirty. BTW don't buy accessories from the dealer. I wanted rails for the top and they were asking $800 list but I could get them for $500. You can buy them from amazon or Volvo direct for $200. It's a Volvo and I have high expectations. I think it is an expensive car and I have not owned it long enough to determine value.
