Volvo V60

Along with its S60 sedan sibling, the V60 was redesigned for 2019 on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture, adopting the brand’s latest design language and interior technology. Two four-cylinder engines were offered: a turbocharged 2.0-liter making 250 horsepower and a turbocharged and supercharged version producing 316 hp. For 2020, a V60 Cross Country version returned and the 316-hp engine was retired in favor of a 415-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain.

By the mid-2010s, traditional station wagons were mostly extinct, displaced by the continuing popularity of SUVs. Volvo, long known for offering compelling wagons like the classic 740 Turbo, bucked the trend with a stylish, new-to-the-U.S. wagon for 2015: the V60. Based on the platform of the redesigned-for-2011 S60 sedan, the V60 sported sleek bobtail styling and decent cargo versatility thanks to its 40/20/40-split, folding backseat. Standard features included a 240-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control and Volvo’s City Safety collision avoidance system. A performance-oriented R-Design trim boasted a turbo six-cylinder that made 325 hp. For 2016, a limited-run Polestar version upped the ante with 345 hp and an upgraded suspension. The V60’s engine lineup was pared down to a pair of four-cylinders for 2017.
