Between announcing its EX30 and actually taking orders, Volvo trimmed rear-wheel drive from the compact electric SUV’s lineup, with only the all-wheel-drive Twin Motor Performance variant headed to the U.S. But now, Volvo has announced a new EX30 for our shores: the 2026 EX30 Cross Country.

How Is the EX30 Cross Country Different?

Cross Country is Volvo’s branding for jacked-up station wagons wearing black lower body cladding; apply that aesthetic to an electric SUV and you’ve pretty well nailed the EX30 version. The EX30 Cross Country rides on larger wheels than the standard variant, and 18-inchers with all-terrain tires will be available. Like the V60 and V90 Cross Country variants, the EX30 wears black fender trim that visually raises the vehicle. Volvo is mum on whether it actually sits any higher, but close study of the photos suggests it does not — and if it does, it’s only slightly.

The EX30 Cross Country also wears darkened bodywork on the nose and in between the taillights, as well as front and rear skid plates. Following in the bootprints of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the EX30 Cross Country’s front panel is etched with a topographical map of Kebnekaise, a mountain range north of the Arctic Circle that contains Sweden’s highest peak. Volvo also touts the EX30 Cross Country’s interior storage solutions, including large bins in the doors and center console. It is, however, unclear if these are different from those in the regular EX30.

Experience Package Accessories

What is definitely fresh for the Cross Country, in addition to the exterior styling tweaks, is a new lineup of accessories the brand is peddling as a Cross Country Experience. To start, the catalog will include a roof rack and storage basket, mud flaps and the all-terrain tires, and Volvo says more is on the way.

The 2026 Volvo EX30 Cross Country will follow the standard EX30 to the U.S. later in 2025.
