Not terrible not great 2012 sport
Tranny is dodgy on my 2012 v6...sport mode is worse....this suv needs a v8...sorry. I'm tall - the seats are not that great for me especially on long trips. Bought it 2020 so it was reasonably priced but now I'm looking for a Merc.

The best value for the money
This vehicle is amazing. It is sturdily built, and it is comfortable, strong, fast, and great looking. The price for this car compared to a Porsche Cayenne makes it an incredible value. So much so that this is the last Touareg in the US market so that it wouldn't compete against their Atlas versions.

2010 VW Touareg TDI
10 years old still no problems. Silky smooth diesel engine with over 400 lbs of torque. Lots of towing climbing power. More comfortable than Audi A7. A Porche for VW Price!

Affordable Porsche Cayenne at VW Price
Very good SUV with great style and reliability. I wish I would have bought one sooner. Better road vehicle than my Mercedes ML. MPG is about 21--wish that would be better. Great for towing also.

Luxury vs Volkswagen... it's both!
I have been behind the wheel of many cars, trucks and SUVs... I get that some handle better than others and that sometimes paying for quality is well... difficult. Now that the Touareg is three years old the prices for well kept used are very reasonable. This is a top quality luxury SUV that I will enjoy a long time. The responsive cruise control is mind-blowing, the seats adjust in ALL directions with plenty of padding... the ride is very nice and I strongly recommend the 2017 VW Touareg Wolfsburg Edition for anyone looking at compact/midsized SUVs.

Quality vehicle
A drivers SUV for people who don’t like trucks or SUVs. My family needed the space so the time came to trade up from our 2013 GTI. I drove and fell in love with the Touareg Wolfsburg edition. Right mix of luxury and refined driving dynamics. Ours is a CPO model, just two years old when purchased. The vehicle as new was priced a bit out of the market, and the secondhand market reflects that. If you can, snag one secondhand and let someone else absorb the rather dramatic depreciation.

Best car for the $
I bought a used 2017 VW Touraeg when looking at several SUV's in the price range...the VW has more standard features than any other car in that $27k - $35k price range. Plus the car is so heavy but handles like a little compact car...I owned a 2011 Chevy Suburban and it is every bit as heavy but nimble as the 2006 Pontiac Torrent I owned too.

For me, the Goldilocks of VW SUVs
I was leaning toward a VW or Honda SUV but did not need a 3 row version. The Atlas and Pilot were just overkill and the 4 cylinder Tiguan and CRV (hate the CVD Transmission) just didn’t work. I was able to find a latest model Certified Pre-Owned Touareg with almost no miles. What a great vehicle. I really like the drive system (previously owned a VW Syncro), build quality and features. All those things I never thought I’d need but now wonder how I lived without. Only drawback is 22MPG but that is really not unexpected in a large vehicle. Very happy so far.

My top choice of SUV
The Touareg is the best possible mixture for me. It has an excellent full time 4 wheel drive system that is smooth operating (you don't know it's there until it performs magic) and works very well for light to medium duty off-road use. It also has a high quality comfortable interior that feels more like a Mercedes than a VW. It is a quiet highway cruiser for all day trips with road noise well muted and seats 4-5 people comfortably. The styling is very clean without all the creases and angles so common in many Japanese SUVs and is fairly rare such that you don't see yourself coming down the street every minute. I have owned 3 over the last 10 years and they have been quite reliable. I purchased a new Acura RDX and had it for 8 months and it was a fairly nice car but did not measure up to a Touareg so I traded it in for a lightly used Touareg. The only downsides to the Touareg are that a) it is not being imported into the US after 2017 due to poor sales volumes and b) it doesn't get the best gas mileage. I am seeing 19-20 MPG around town and 24-25 highway which is above it's rated MPG but not as good as some similar sized SUVs.
