The Volkswagen Tiguan received an extensive refresh for the 2022 model year, so the German automaker is giving the compact SUV almost no updates for 2023 and only modestly bumping up the starting price up $460 over 2022.

What’s Changed?

With the bulk of the Tiguan carried over from 2022, updates for the 2023 model might easily be missed if you look over the SUV at a quick glance. The latest Tiguan still retains its existing trim ladder (S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line), but the SE R-Line gets new 19-inch wheels and the USB-C charging ports have been upgraded to support 45-watt charging for mobile devices. Those upgraded charging ports will be available late.

All models are still powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 184 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional for all but the SEL R-Line, where it comes standard. FWD models get EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 24/31/27 mpg city/highway/combined (23/30/26 mpg for the SE and SE R-Line Black); AWD versions get a slightly lower 22/29/25 mpg (21/28/24 mpg for the R-Lines).

Pricing

The 2023 Tiguan is available now. VW didn’t make many changes to the pricing ladder, and the full lineup is listed below (all pricing includes the $1,295 destination fee). All-wheel drive is an additional $1,500 on all trims but the SEL R-Line, where it’s standard.

  • S: $28,245
  • SE: $31,875
  • SE R-Line Black: $34,605
  • SEL R-Line: $38,975

Had suv parked out in country, that something ate wires, had it repaired, but son-in-law saw subframe to be cracked where mount bushing is installed, asked if that normal service advisor , answered no, so had that replaced, was cover under warranty. But this could be a potential recall .
