Toyota has added a 45th Anniversary Edition to its 2024 GR Supra lineup to celebrate the sports car’s origins as the Celica Supra when it arrived all the way back in 1979. The 2024 model otherwise is largely carried over and starts at $46,635 (all prices include $1,095 destination charge).

Sales of the 45th Anniversary Edition variant are limited to only 900 examples. Color choices include a bright orange called Mikan Blast or a bright white labeled Absolute Zero, and each of the exterior hues is paired with a black leather interior. All 45th Anniversary Editions ride on matte-black 19-inch aluminum wheels over black-painted brake calipers with GR logos.
Other visual highlights of the 45th Anniversary Edition include black Supra side graphics and a black rear spoiler that rises approximately 3 inches above the rear decklid. An adjustment screw allows owners to manually change the angle of the spoiler to increase rear downforce. Based on the 3.0 Premium trim, the special edition also includes heated seats, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation, wireless device charging, JBL audio and voice recognition.
Performance and 0-60 MPH
Motivating the base Supra is a 255-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that sends 295 pounds-feet of torque to the rear wheels. The 3.0 trims come with a 382-hp, turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder that makes 368 pounds-feet. With the 3.0-liter, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic; the 2.0 is only available with the automatic.
Toyota says the 3.0 with the automatic transmission is slightly quicker, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds versus 4.2 seconds. It’s also better on gas, as the automatic returns an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined, while the manual serves up 21 mpg combined. The 2.0-liter is rated 27 mpg combined.
