2020 Subaru WRX review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Subaru WRX?

The Subaru WRX and WRX STI are compact performance sedans with room for up to five people. They have turbocharged engines, performance-oriented all-wheel-drive systems and racy bodywork. The WRX has a 268-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and the high-output WRX STI has a 310-hp, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. It also includes other high-performance hardware like Brembo brakes and a driver-controlled center differential. The WRX faces competition from the Honda Civic Si and Volkswagen Golf GTI, while the WRX STI goes up against the VW Golf R and Honda Civic Type R.

What’s New on the 2020 Subaru WRX?

WRXs equipped with the available continuously variable automatic transmission come with Subaru’s EyeSight active safety technology, while the car’s optional Performance Package adds Brembo-brand brakes. The WRX STI, meanwhile, now has standard keyless access with push-button start.

What Features in the 2020 Subaru WRX Are Most Important?

Unlike many other compact sedans that have front-wheel drive, Subaru’s WRX and WRX STI are distinguished by standard all-wheel drive. Both cars still offer a standard six-speed manual transmission for those interested in shifting for themselves. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity is available.

Should I Buy the 2020 Subaru WRX?

If you’re looking for entertaining performance and four-season usability in one car, the WRX and WRX STI are worth a look. That said, we’re not impressed with the automatic transmission, and trunk space is limited.

Great grocery getter

Got my 2020 a few years back been a soild car. Haven't had one major issue with any of the car drivableity of the car. But thank again my service record is flawless . But for an all wheel drive car she pulls hard when your ready to have fun but can just cruise when you need her to the drive modes are a great ad to it . But all and all would recommend anybody give it a look and go test drive one .

Best bang for your buck hands down.

You enjoy driving a spirited car that responds to your input. : “check “ you need the room and versatility of a four door sedan. : “check” You need the all weather security of all wheel drive. : “check”. I don’t think there’s anything in the marketplace that checks all the boxes like a Subaru WRX.
