Miles per gallon-equivalent is how the EPA provides efficiency ratings for battery-electric vehicles in a way that can be used in comparison with gasoline-powered vehicles. Actual mileage will vary depending on driving conditions, driving habits, elevation changes, weather, accessory usage (lights, climate control), vehicle condition and other factors.

Charge time estimates are based on using a 240-volt charging circuit charging from empty to 100% battery capacity. Level 2 is the fastest way to charge at home, though charging times can vary and are dependent on factors such as the capabilities of the charging circuit, charging equipment and the vehicle’s onboard charger. Battery capacity Battery capacity

Battery capacity is measured in kilowatt-hours, which is a measure of how much energy is used over time. A 70-kWh battery has more energy capacity than a 50-kWh battery and would result in a longer driving range if all other factors were equal. But more battery capacity doesn’t always mean longer range because of differences in energy consumption from vehicle to vehicle. Battery capacity provided by Chrome Data, a JD Power company.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek?

The Subaru Crosstrek is a small SUV based on the automaker’s Impreza and comes with standard all-wheel drive and seating for five. It’s powered by a 152-horsepower, 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine that works with a six-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission. Though it is not designed for rugged off-road use, the Crosstrek has 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Competitors include the Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, Nissan Rogue Sport and Hyundai Kona. A plug-in hybrid version dubbed Crosstrek Hybrid can travel up to 17 miles on electric power alone, according to EPA estimates.

What’s New on the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek?

Automatic air conditioning and automatic door locks are now standard. A rear-seat reminder is available, and CVT-equipped Crosstreks come with Subaru’s EyeSight active safety technology. EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control, automatic precollision braking, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist. CVT models also get engine auto stop-start technology.

What Features in the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek Are Most Important?

All-wheel drive is standard on all models, and Subaru’s EyeSight collision mitigation system is an important available feature. Other standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity and a 60/40-split, folding backseat.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Vs. 2020 Honda HR-V: How Do They Compare?

Both small SUVs have seating for five, and though the Crosstrek’s base price is higher it does come with standard all-wheel drive, which costs extra on the HR-V. Automatic-equipped gas versions are similarly efficient, but the Crosstrek Hybrid notably boosts efficiency. The plug-in hybrid is considerably more expensive but it’s also eligible for a federal tax credit. Interior space and outward visibility are highlights of each, though neither SUV is very powerful.

Should I Buy the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek?

Subaru used to be a clear leader in the small SUV pack, but other manufacturers have caught up with new and redesigned entries. The Crosstrek, however, still has much to offer. It’s roomy, gets good gas mileage when equipped with the CVT and offers important safety features.

First Hybrid I've owned and so far love it!

I was looking specifically for this model car because of the safety features. No one locally had it - So I took the drive to Utica, after making sure they still had the one listed on Carfax. I love the color, style, handling, and quiet. My Baby Blu is amazing.
