Best small car I've ever had!
I have had smaller cars before but this car is just awesome for local commuting. you fill up the tank and just forget about buying more gas for over a week. It's incredible! Love it!

Still running, still stunning!
This car was purchased new back in 2006 and it was a big deal for the family since it was the first new car we'd owned. We had all kinds of used cars, just due to the fact that we couldn't afford something new. I could've written about it back then and how awesome it was in its hey-day. It was shinny and new and smelled so great! Well it's been a long time now, and it wasn't always well taken care of. Last year I started taking more of an interest in fixing it up, it gave me a chance to figure things out and it helped me keep my mind off family issues at the time. Definitely had some problems with it when I took it over. Once I cleaned it up decently it started coming back together, but obviously age isn't something easy to undo. Other than some heavy dents and scratches and faded plastic and worn interior it looks like she'll make it with some tlc. Mechanically, it was sounding rough. I knew it was going to be a tall order. Lots of little touches hear and there, in total probably $800-$1000 worth of parts and mostly DIY labor. There's still much to be done, I figure some body work might pay off and hopefully she'll shine. I'd still say it's well-worth it and further justifies keeping it running.

Overlooked and extremely reliable!
I was the 2nd owner. I bought it when it had 200k and it died when it had to 250k. I took great care of it and loved how reliable it truly was. I was hesitant at first since Kias had a bad rep in the 90s but boy was I wrong to assume. This car is just as reliable as the family camry or your auntie's toyota, trust me. My only gripe would be the engine performance which was lacking. Especially on the highways.

Reliable car
I have had my Spectra 5 for 11 years and 202,000 miles. It hasn't had any major issues and it gets great gas mileage. The main issues have been non-mechanical (ie interior door handle broke). It is an affordable, efficient, minimal frills car.

Good Economy Car
I owned this car for 6 years from 2006-2012. I bought it new from the dealer. It was a great, basic car. Gets you from point A to point B in a sporty-looking fashion. It is your stereotypical economy car, with a sporty look. When I sold it, it had 100k miles and I had no major mechanical issues.

enjoyable car
I bought my kia S5 with 75,000 miles on it, but it feels and drives great. It's a pretty sporty little car with great pick up and handling, and is really comfortable. It is absolutely impossible to drive in the snow, but I think that might have something to do with the tires that came on it. I mostly put highway miles on this and so far I have only been averaging about 26 mpg, which isn't nearly as good as what is reported. Sometimes the gas cover won't open if it is cold outside. I have an automatic, and if it's cold out, it doesn't like to kick up into 4th gear. Overall it is a great car. It is practical and fun to drive. I feel that I am really getting my moneys worth!

Fun car and runs great..
I bought the car used in Aug. 2010. I now have 75000 miles on it. I do reg oil changes and so far very lucky that its as great as it is. :-) The mpg is AWSOME I get like 24 city and as good as 38 on highway. I was able to go from Texas to Tulsa 280 miles on just a little over half a tank. The ride can be a little harsh. The engine noise is less then my PT Crusier. I would buy another Kia.
