2024 Jeep Wagoneer review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer?

The Jeep Wagoneer is a full-size three-row SUV that comes in regular and extended-length L versions. The standard Wagoneer is already extra large, and the L adds another 12 inches of length (7 inches to the wheelbase). The sole engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 420 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional. Wagoneers have an upscale feel and are available with a plethora of comfort and tech features, including an optional 10.25-inch touchscreen for the front-seat passenger. If you want something even more luxurious, Jeep offers the ritzier-still Grand Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L. Wagoneer competitors include the Ford Expedition and Expedition Max, as well as the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.

What’s New on the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer?

The base-model Wagoneer previously came standard with a 392-hp, 5.7-liter V-8, but that engine has been discontinued for 2024. Beyond that, some Wagoneer trims see minor alterations to standard and available equipment.

What Features in the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen
  • 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Leather seating surfaces
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Three-zone climate control
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Hands-free power liftgate

Available features include:

  • 20- or 22-inch alloy wheels
  • Panoramic moonroof
  • Rear-seat entertainment system
  • Front passenger-side touchscreen
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability
  • Heated second-row seats
  • Trailer and tow package
  • Power-folding third row
  • Head-up instrument display
  • Surround-view camera system display
  • Wireless charging pad

Should I Buy the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer?

The Wagoneer has the power and amenities you’d expect from a full-size SUV with a fancy luxury badge affixed to its front grille. It’s not exactly cheap, but the Wagoneer is loaded with comfort and safety features even in its base trim. Its infotainment system is impressive and intuitive, though it does take patience to understand all the available menus and functions. The Wagoneer is a truly plus-sized vehicle, though, with cavernous interior space and all the commensurate penalties in fuel economy and ease of maneuvering and parking. The Wagoneer L in particular is a whole lot of SUV; it might be overkill for anyone who won’t routinely need to make use of its seating capacity or massive cargo bay.
