2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6?

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an electric sedan with streamlined styling; it shares basic underpinnings with the Ioniq 5 SUV. Standard and long-range battery packs are offered, as are rear- and all-wheel drive. The single-motor RWD model has 149 horsepower with the standard battery and 225 hp with the larger battery, while the dual-motor AWD model comes only with the larger battery and makes 320 hp. The Ioniq 6’s competitors include the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6, Polestar 2 and Tesla Model 3.

What’s New on the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6?

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 debuted for 2023 and is unchanged for its sophomore season.

How Much Range Does the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Have?

The Ioniq 6’s EPA-estimated driving range runs from 240 to 361 miles depending on battery pack, drive wheels and wheel size.

How Long Does It Take to Charge the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6?

The Ioniq 6’s charging times range from an estimated 6 hours, 55 minutes on a standard 240-volt Level 2 charger (to go to an 80% charge) to an estimated 18 minutes on a 350-kilowatt DC fast charger (to go from a 10% charge to 80%).

Should I Buy the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6?

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an excellent EV that is a design-forward alternative to a bulkier SUV. Its aerodynamic exterior shape pays dividends in driving range even if the sedan body style isn’t as versatile as an SUV and the swoopy roofline takes a sizable chunk out of backseat headroom. The base model’s estimated driving range of 240 miles is commendable, and the Ioniq 6’s balanced ride and crisp handling make even a mundane daily commute entertaining. It’s also a decent value as EVs go, and each trim level is equipped with a generous level of features for the money.
