Genesis
The Genesis name first appeared on a flagship Hyundai sedan beginning with the 2009 model year, but it morphed into the South Korean automaker's stand-alone luxury division in 2017. Since its introduction, the brand has made significant inroads into the luxury market. Genesis has largely overcome its lack of heritage and name recognition compared to established European and Japanese rivals by offering a strong value for the money and increasingly distinctive products. The original brand-launch vehicles, the mid-size G80 and full-size G90 sedans, have since been joined by the G70 compact sedan and a pair of SUVs: the compact GV70 and mid-size GV80. Genesis also competes in the luxury electric-vehicle market with GV60, an upscale SUV that shares its basic platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, and the Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 — all-electric versions of their gas-engine counterparts.
