Fun, sporty & reliable

Fiat did a fantastic thing by teaming up with Mazda for their 124 Spider, combining Italian looks and Japanese build quality and reliability. I believe the 124 Spider is actually better than the Alpha 4C, at half the cost, probably one of the reasons Fiat refuses to put an Alpha badge on this car. It’s a small two seater suitable for two not overweight or over tall adults to have oodles of cheap fun! Reliable, flawlessly designed and just a joy to own but don’t even think about driving it in the snow!

Too much fun, if there is such a thing.

This car is about one thing, the joy of top down motoring. Practical? NO. Who cares, that's not why you buy a car like this. High smile per mile quotient and good fuel economy a bonus.

excellent

I love the updated design. I owned a Fiat Spider in the 90's and lived it. This is just as much fun. I highly rerecommend.

Head turning style

This car is fun to drive and I have all the options. The 9 speaker Bose radio in such a small cabins space is remarkable. Wherever I go, people ask me what is the make of the car. I even had a teenage boy take out his camera to take pictures. Plenty of trunk room and storage room where the top would fold down. I have owned many corvettes but this Fiat 124 Spider with its retro sports car look is my overall favorite.

What is an Abarth?

No one known who Abarth was. Or what an Abarth is. Much less, who has heard of Fiat. But say, "It's Italian" and then people as questions. So, it's worth owning just for that. Plus the look is so Retro sports car. Yes, the reliability is excellent. It has not had time to break! Plus, it does have a great warranty. It's not super powerful. But it does SOUND like it is. The colors are limited. An orange or a yellow would make a more powerful statement.

A car that's easy to have fun in

I love this car. It's simple, fun and looks great. The convertible top is a breeze to raise and lower, the interior is easy to navigate around, and it's easy to throw around some curves. With all those qualities, it's obvious why this is such a fun practical car to enjoy your time in.

Not one but TWO!!!

My take on this vehicle is unbelievable. I had so much fun test driving the 124 spider Abarth that it was a must have to own one of these. I initially pondered for a month to buy a Corvette until I drove by one of the Fiat dealerships and took it for a test drive. I was amazed at how quick and fast this car can go. I was truly impressed not just by the speed but ability to handle he curve. This car made my mind up for me right there and then that I purchased two (silver and black) of these babies. This car gets allot of attention everywhere I would park it and people always asked me what it is. I'm loving it everyday and love driving it everyday!!!

So Disappointed!!

I purchased the 2017 Spider 124 Abarth, automatic in March 2017. This is my full time vehicle. I started having issues in Feb 2018, at about 15k miles. I was driving on the freeway, when I lost power to the vehicle for a split second. All the lights on the dashboard lit up like Christmas. I was about 2 hours from home and continued with no issues. My check engine light was on and it was brought into the dealer. They kept it for about 4 days and said it was a software issue. I decided to take my car for an oil change near my home. Service has always been at the dealer, but they are slow! The repair shop told me to get my car to the dealer and showed me green, dried coolant on the pan. I only have 20k miles!! Dealer stated I needed a new water pump. Well that wasn?t the only issues. They needed to replace the seals or plugs because the coolant was still leaking after they replaced the pump. Well they did all that but one of the plugs would not fit. So as I?m writing this, I?m getting a new engine. Wow! My car has been in the shop for 2 weeks now and I?m not sure when I?m getting it back and not sure that I want it! So sad because I was having a blast driving it, but clearly buying a first year rebirth was not a good idea. Hope you have better luck!
