We took delivery in July, 2022 for a new iX xDrive 50, and owned it for 2 1/2 years. One of the best cars we'd ever had. BMW sent custom cushions that go through the openings in the front seats for this model year, such that shorter occupants wouldn't hit their heads on trim there. The front is polarizing, but in dark colors grows on you. The car is dead quiet, fast, great ride and GREAT range- we got over 300 miles on road trips easily. The B&W audio system is one of the best available in any car.

I just can't believe that such an ugly and unreliable BUG

I just can't believe that such an ugly and unreliable BUG was the result of "bmw best engineering" Including bmw dealer workers don't have appreciation for this particular/peculiar ix

Best car I've ever had.

I love my iX. Yes, the exterior isn't for everyone, and I have a few bits to pick with iDrive 8--but this is a spectacular car for many use cases. I'm 6-5, and everyone in my family is over 6 feet. Four of us fit quite comfortably. The leather is much nicer than the Sensatec, and though options are pricey, I'm glad we have them--esp drive assist PRO, the B&W stereo, and the dynamic handling and luxury packages. Crazy fast, handles well for a three ton vehicle, and gets lots is positive attention in the world. The B&W stereo slaps.

IX 50 SHORT SEAT CUSHION

Front seating CUSHION is MUCH TOO SHORT. NO SUPPORT. LONG DRIVE BECOMES PAINFUL HIGHWAY DRIVING FINDS CAR IS FLOATY. EVEN IN SPORT MODE. ALSO MUST RESET DRIVE MODE EACH TIME VEHICLE IS STARTED. PERFORMANCE IS EXCELLENT AS IS AUDIO SYSTEM. IF IT WEREN'T QUITE UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE VEHICLE IS TECHNICALLY QUITE GOOD

Worth the Wait!

I have the IX 50 for 2 months and thus far it has been amazing!! I already drove it 1/2 way across the Country from NJ to St.Louis - taking our son to College-it drives like a dream! 516HP is incredible, it is roomy and comfortable. We do have Driver Assist Pro, Premium Package, Dynamic Handling and Sport.Coming from an X7 we don’t have some of the similar amenities such as soft close doors or hot/cold driver cup holders- so those are the only cons-the way the car performs on the road certainly makes up for it!

Bold and beautiful

I happen to love the bold design. The car is much bigger inside than one would expect and comfort is excellent. Like a true BMW it has plenty of power and torque, and is very stable on the road.

Great car. 3 star Value.

Bought a new IX50 (2 months ago) off the lot so my review is based on not how I would buy it should I have been able to order. My IX has Sensatec seats, Premium package and Dynamic handling. The pros. It is FAST (Needs Oh xxxx Handles). It is FUN. Spacious interior. The technology is great (you don’t need a key to do anything with the car - only your phone and it has a great digital key too) and the computer screen dash. It does take some time getting used to it. The cons and what I would change/order. Sensatec isn’t the must luxurious feel. Get leather. Even with the premium luxury package, it doesn’t automatically come with Active Driving Assistant PRO. Active Driving Assistant is basic and when you pay >90K and get a the luxury/premium package, you should get Active Driving Assistant PRO. Read the differences and order the Active Driving Assitant PRO. It should come with the car but if not standard, it should come with the premium/luxury packages. Finally, many of these cars are not coming with a passenger side LUMBAR SUPPORT/massage as it is being deleted at the factory. BAD IDEA BMW. Not for 90K. The passenger seat doesn’t even have side bolsters or massage. This needs to change. The car is great. I LOVE the tax credit. I LOVE not stopping at a gas station but the price is high for what you get. GET LEATHER. GET ACTIVE DRIVING ASSISTANT PRO. BMW needs to address passenger front seat.

Expensive yet disappointing car

Disclaimer: I don't own BMW iX, but I was seriously considering buying it, I researched it quite a bit and tried it at a local dealership. Pro's: - Specs are good, especially range - for an electric car it is important. - Acceleration and handling are good, pretty much what you would expect from BMW. Unlike some of the competitors like Audi eTron, BMW iX feels "sporty" despite heavy batteries. Con's: - Internal styling is pretty poor. It does not feel like a luxury car - more like a cheap toyota. Even Tesla feels a lot better in comparison:-( - Dashboard looks like a home-made DIY project when somebody mounted a couple of flat screens on the top of the front panel, without even hiding mounting brackets. - Steering wheel is poor - hexagonal shape, it looks ugly, and it feels weird. You can put up with it, but it is certainly not a positive thing. - Internal materials feel cheap and crappy - this "SensaTek" material that is the default in iX is cheap plastic, and it feels like a cheap plastic that wants to pretend to be leather, but as soon as you touch it - you know this is cheap plastic. And this is in 90K car! Porsche also has a habit of offering leather as an option to make you pay extra, but in Porsche basic no-leather material is decent and does not feel cheap, while in BMW iX it is pretty bad. - Inventory and availability. Despite the car being advertised online and offline, it is not actually available. NONE of the dealerships is actually selling it - what they have are demo models and the only option is to order and wait for 10+ month. I poked few dealerships that list iX as available on cars.com to check if what they are advertising is real car available to buy - and found out that it is all fake - they are selling hot air, offering to place an order and wait, despite of advertising real car as if it was available. After seriously considering BMW iX I decided to stay with Audi eTron. It has shorter range (still adequate for the purpose), but it feels like a proper luxury car with excellent interior and materials, it is about the same size as iX and has more features, at a lower price.

Serial BMW owner who won't be back.

I currently lease an X5 45e PHEV which I intend to buy at the end of the lease because I could not stomach going into my garage and looking at any of the "new" BMW front ends. I asked the guys at my local BMW dealer what people are saying and they just smile and then change the subject.
