Audi Q7

Audi’s seven-seat Q7 and its evil twin, the SQ7, are getting on in years, but with the electric-vehicle revolution in full swing, they’re making do with a minor face-lift for 2025. At a base price of $61,695, the Q7 creeps up $1,000 over its predecessor (all prices include $1,195 destination).

The Q7’s grille and front end are subtly reshaped, with the outer air intakes vertically oriented compared to the 2024’s horizontal inlets. New trim in the grille itself adds more complexity to the look, with last year’s vertical strakes broken into staggered lines in the Q7 and the SQ7’s maw filled with chrome-accented hexagons. Audi’s Matrix-design LED headlights and signature daytime running lights are now standard, and the brand’s laser headlights are available, supplementing the high beams with enhanced visibility when conditions permit. Buyers can tweak the look of their 2025 Q7 with new paint colors and wheel options.

The SQ7 adds OLED taillights, and owners can choose from different light signatures for them and the LED DRLs. The SQ7 also gets a redesigned front splitter and a more aggressive rear diffuser. If you have to squint to see the difference between the 2024 and 2025 SQ7s, maybe a closer listen will do the trick. Audi says the 2025’s exhaust system now adds “additional acoustic emphasis” to the SUV’s 500-horsepower, twin-turbo V-8.

Inside, gray contrast stitching is now standard on both the Q7 and SQ7, while the performance model gets standard matte carbon trim. Additionally, a new Audi Sport Express Red Package nets red seatbelts and red accent stitching. Audi has also upgraded its infotainment system so users can download popular apps like Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube directly to the vehicle and run them through the touchscreen. For 2025, all Q7 and SQ7 buyers will get three years of free connected navigation and traffic light information, which displays a recommended driving speed to catch the next green light and countdown timers for reds.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

All 2025 Q7s and SQ7s are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Audi offers the Q7 with two engines. The Q7 45 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 261 hp and 273 pounds-feet of torque; Audi claims it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.7 seconds. The brand claims it gets 20/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined (official EPA figures are not yet available), and towing capacity is 4,400 pounds.

The Q7 55 upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, lofting output to 335 hp and 369 pounds-feet, dropping the 0-60 time to 5.5 seconds and bumping towing capacity to 7,700 pounds. Fuel economy drops to 18/23/22 mpg.

With its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 churning out 500 hp and 568 pounds-feet, the SQ7 catapults to 60 mph in just 4 seconds flat and gets its top-speed governor loosened to 155 mph, versus 130 for the Q7. It, too, can handle trailers up to 7,700 pounds, and fuel economy dips to 15/21/17 mpg.
