PROTECT YOURSELF FROM JOB SCAMS

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM JOB SCAMS

Here is how to protect yourself from job scams, which can appear like legitimate work opportunities. For example, a scammer could pretend to work for a CARS company (ie Cars.com, Dealer Inspire, DealerRater, FUEL, Launch Digital Marketing/LDM) and attempt to gain access to your personal information. Be aware and remember these tips:

  • CARS will never ask for money or fees at any point during the interview process. If you are asked to send money as part of your interaction, do not send money. Additionally, we will never ask you for your bank account information or any other sensitive information, such as your Social Security number during the interview process.
  • CARS will never interview you solely over email or text. We may reach out to you digitally to schedule interviews, but we always conduct our interviews via phone or video chat (Zoom or Google Chat). Additionally, if we extend an offer to you, we will always deliver it to you via phone or video chat.
  • CARS posts all legitimate job openings on our careers website. You may come across job postings on various job boards. For your safety, please verify a Cars.com, FUEL or DealerRater role exists and apply directly on our website at: www.cars.com/careers/ OR for a Dealer Inspire or Launch Digital Marketing opening at: www.dealerinspire.com/careers/ . We also post legitimate CARS jobs on the job board Greenhouse.
