Snow belt denizens can attest that foul weather doesn’t last all year — and you don’t have to live in California or Florida to enjoy open-top motoring. But unless you plan to garage your ride from turkey to corned beef season, drop-top cars, most of which employ rear-wheel drive, aren’t ideal. A good set of all-season or winter tires can increase viability, especially if you live somewhere roads are regularly plowed. But for true all-season capability, a handful of automakers offer convertibles with all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Fourteen models offer a convertible body style with AWD or 4WD for the 2021 model year. Note, of course, that the road-hugging profile on most convertibles makes for little ground clearance, an impediment in deep snow regardless of driveline. Two exceptions are the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco, the market’s pair of convertible SUVs; both offer 4WD rather than the AWD universally offered elsewhere on this list.
