Updated 2025 Nissan Frontier Priced From $33,560

It’ll take a keen observer to spot the external differences between the 2024 Nissan Frontier and the updated 2025 model, but every buyer will appreciate the additional content. Nissan added a host of newly standard safety features to its mid-size pickup, including lane departure warning, blind spot alerts, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and rear parking sensors.

Higher trim levels also gain a larger touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with other standard tech features such as a 360-degree parking camera and wireless phone charging. Nissan, however, isn’t giving this stuff away; prices for the 2025 Frontier are up across the board from the 2024 model.

Specs and Fuel Economy

The Frontier is available in two configurations: a King Cab with a smaller backseat that’s accessed through small, rear-hinged doors and a crew cab with a larger backseat and four full-size doors. All King Cabs have a 6-foot bed, while the crew cab is available with a 5- or 6-foot bed. Previously, the long-bed crew-cab combo was only available on the mid-level SV trim. For 2025, the off-road-oriented Pro-4X and range-topping SL can be had in the maximum people- and cargo-carrying configuration, as well. The longer box is a $500 upcharge. S and rear-wheel-drive Pro-X Frontier crew cabs are still only offered with the short bed.

As its competitors transition to turbocharged or hybrid powertrains — and, in the case of the Toyota Tacoma i-Force Max, turbocharged and hybrid powertrains — the Frontier soldiers on with its naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V-6. The engine generates 310 horsepower and 281 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. RWD is standard, and four-wheel drive is available as an upgrade; 4WD costs $3,000 on the base S trim and $3,300 on the rest of the lineup.

Official fuel economy ratings are not available yet for the 2025 Frontier, but they’re unlikely to change from last year’s. The 2024 Frontier returns an EPA-estimated 18/24/21 mpg city/highway/combined with RWD and 18/23/20 with 4WD. The Pro-4X’s off-road bits bump its mpg down a bit more on the highway, resulting in ratings of 18/22/19. For comparison, the RWD Ford Ranger, with its turbocharged four-cylinder, gets an EPA-rated 21/25/22 mpg, and the 4WD Tacoma i-Force Max returns 22/24/23 mpg.

Availability and Pricing

The 2025 Nissan Frontier is on sale now. Full pricing (including the $1,510 destination fee) is as follows:

Safety Features and Trim Levels

Standard safety features on the 2025 Frontier include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors with automatic braking, a driver attention monitor and automatic high beams.

The entry-level Frontier S can be identified by its 16-inch steel wheels and black grille, door handles and rear bumper. It has LED taillights and keyless starting, but few other frills. Inside, it features cloth seating, a sliding rear window, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a four-speaker audio system. Frontiers with 4WD also get a standard steel skid plate and a front tow hook.

The SV upgrades to 17-inch aluminum wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, and body-color grille, door handles and rear bumper. It is upholstered in fancier cloth and adds a power-adjustable driver’s seat, six-speaker audio system, and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and satellite radio. From here on up, 4WD trucks get an additional front tow hook.

The off-road-oriented Pro-X and Pro-4X feature an upgraded suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and increased front ground clearance, all-terrain tires and beefy fender trim that makes the truck 1.7 inches wider. Its interior boasts unique embroidered cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat and heated front seats. The 4WD Pro-4X also includes an aluminum front skid plate and steel pieces protecting the transfer case and fuel tank.

At the top of the Frontier hierarchy, the SL features LED headlights, daytime running lights and foglamps, a moonroof and heated side mirrors. Its bed is treated to a spray-in bedliner, adjustable cargo tie-downs and under-rail LED lighting. Like the Pro-X, the SL’s cabin is upgraded with a power-adjustable passenger seat and heated front seats, but the SL also has leather upholstery, a 10-speaker Fender audio system, navigation and a 360-degree parking camera.
