The Matte Adds Up: 2024 Ford Mustang Adds Warranty-Backed Matte Wrap
Matte paint has been a niche offering for years now, limited to one or two factory offerings on mostly high-end vehicles (and the occasional electric Hyundai). Buyers wanting the look in a broader palette of colors have had to look to pricey aftermarket paint jobs — until now. Well, sort of: Ford has announced that it will offer a matte wrap over the full catalog of available colors on the 2024 Mustang coupe and convertible.

From automotive-industry supplier PPG, the wrap promises easier care than matte paints, which can have their finish marred by improper detergents or automatic car washes. Ford’s factory wrap will also be covered by the Mustang’s three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
While it will be available on all 2024 Mustang coupes in all 12 factory colors (including the Dark Horse Premium’s trim-specific Blue Ember hue), the wrap will not be offered with other stripes or accent graphics. That means it’s off the table for buyers of the GT California Special Package, and Dark Horse buyers will have to forgo that variant’s standard hood accent stripe.
Ford will charge $5,995 for the wrap, which is in line with aftermarket pricing, but it comes with additional peace of mind as a factory option. Buyers can order a Mustang coupe with the clear matte wrap now; Ford expects deliveries to begin in June. The wrap will not be available on convertibles until the fourth quarter of 2024.
