Tesla is recalling over 3,800 examples of its new Cybertruck for an issue with the accelerator pedal assembly that could compromise performance, increasing the risk of a collision.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Cybertrucks. When high force is applied to the pad on the accelerator pedal, the pad may dislodge and the pedal may become trapped in the interior trim above it, affecting its performance and operation and increasing the risk of a collision. Application of the brake pedal will still bring the vehicle to a stop, and the driver will receive audible and visual alerts that both the brake and accelerator pedals are pressed.
As a remedy, Tesla will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly for free. Tesla will notify vehicle owners in June, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact the automaker’s customer service at 877-798-3752 (Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-33-003), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
