A year after it debuted with a wild power increase, dramatically widened bodywork and a freshened interior, the face-lifted Aston Martin Vantage Coupe is being rejoined by its convertible twin. Headed to showrooms in the second quarter of 2025, the 2026 Vantage Roadster takes everything about its tin-top sibling that gets hearts racing and force-feeds wind through the driver’s hair.

Horsepower Corrupts Absolutely

Like the Vantage Coupe, the Vantage Roadster is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine sourced from Mercedes-Benz. Tuned to deliver 656 horsepower and 590 pounds-feet of torque, the Vantages’ engine produces more power than virtually any Mercedes application short of the previous-generation AMG GT Black Series. The roadster’s 202 mph top speed matches that of the coupe, and Aston’s claimed 3.5-second sprint from 0-60 mph is just a tenth slower than it quotes for the coupe.

Despite carrying its engine in the nose, a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission helps the Vantage Roadster to keep a slight rearward weight bias, which is a boon to handling. Fifty-one percent of the droptop’s weight is supported by the rear tires, which measure 325/30/21 and are wider than the rear rubber on the pre-face-lift Vantage, the better to corral the extra 153 hp; the front tires measure 275/35/21. Like the coupe’s tires, the roadster’s are Michelin Pilot Sport S 5s specially developed for the Vantage.

Resist the Twist

To combat the loss of structural rigidity that accompanies a beheading, Aston’s engineers reinforced the remaining structure to the extent that the roadster is actually stiffer in some directions than its fixed-roof sibling. The resultant weight gain is a mere 132 pounds. The top itself features eight layers of insulation and raises or lowers in just 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. (If that seems like an odd figure, it’s an even 50 kph.) Aston Martin claims that makes the Vantage’s convertible roof the fastest on the market.

The brand says it developed the two Vantages in tandem, so all of the same upgrades it made to the 2025 coupe apply to the convertible, as well. That means Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential and Aston’s Active Vehicle Dynamics, which allows drivers to adjust the stability-control intervention to hone their car control.

Customization Options Wide to Endless

With three new colors joining the palette, buyers now have 21 to choose from — as well as seven brake caliper colors, four different finishes for the three available wheel styles, and four shades for the top: black, red, blue, or black and silver. As with other Astons, buyers can also unlock near-infinite personalization options (for a price) through the brand’s Q customization service.

The 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster will arrive at dealerships in the second quarter of 2025. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but based on the coupe’s tremendous leap from less than $150,000 in 2023 to more than $190,000 for 2025, expect the droptop to land on the high side of $200,000.
