Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-20 Leafs equipped with a DC fast-charging port. According to Nissan, during DC fast charging, the high-voltage battery may overheat, increasing the risk of fire. Owners are advised not to use DC fast charging until the issue is fixed.
To resolve the problem, dealers will update the battery software for free. Nissan will send a first notice to owners in October and a second one once the remedy is available in November. Those with further questions can contact Nissan at 800-867-7669(Nissan’s number for this recall is R24B2), call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
