GMC announced this week that it will expand on the successful Sierra 1500 AT4 off-road version of the pickup, Sierra 2500 AT4 off-road Ram 2500 Power Wagon fighter and Acadia SUV with AT4 versions of all of its vehicles, wrapping up in the fall with the debut of an AT4 version of its Terrain compact SUV.
A Terrain AT4 got a tease appearance this week at an event for the redesigned 2021 Yukon and Yukon XL full-size SUVs, including their AT4 versions. The complete lineup will effectively establish AT4 as a rough-and-tough sub-brand for GMC, alongside its Denali sub-brand of deluxe versions of its truck and SUV lineup.
Beyond the Terrain tease, GMC provided no details of how it would be a more butch version of the small SUV. All AT4s so far have more rugged appearance items, AT4 interior trim and off-road equipment that vary by model but include off-road suspension tuning, air suspension, upgraded tires and shocks, skid plates, and more capable all-wheel-drive systems and electronic differentials.
