Following a teaser toward the end of 2021 and its formal unveiling as the brand’s first all-electric vehicle in April 2022, the 2023 Lexus RZ 450e SUV is now available for preorder. Pricing for its two trims is official now, too: It will start at $59,650 (all pricing includes the $1,150 destination charge).

The RZ 450e shares its underpinnings with the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. Unlike those two, though, the RZ 450e embraces luxury touches inside and out. The exterior draws from traditional Lexus design cues like the spindle style grille panel; the interior features a 14-inch touchscreen dominating the center stack and a cabin incorporating sustainable materials. A digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, dark-gray 18-inch alloy wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel are standard.
Options for the base Premium trim include black 20-inch wheels, a front knee heater and a Technology Package that bundles a 10-inch head-up display, Lexus Digital Key and SmartAccess Key, and hands-free perpendicular and parallel parking. The Luxury variant offers gunmetal 20-inch wheels and a dimming panoramic glass roof as optional equipment. Both trims have an available digital rearview mirror, illuminated front badge and a Cold Weather Package that includes headlamp washers and a windshield wiper de-icer.
Performance comes from two electric motors with a 71.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack that makes a combined system output of 312 horsepower. Lexus says the EV can make the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.2 seconds, and the brand is targeting an estimated 220-mile range with 18-inch wheels and 196 miles of range with 20-inch wheels. All-wheel drive is standard.
