Audi Sedans, Wagons and Coupes Recalled for Passenger Airbags
A small population of Audi sedans, wagons and coupes is the subject of the latest recall issued from Audi’s parent automaker Volkswagen. Some 3,400 vehicles are at risk for an incorrectly manufactured passenger-side airbag, though it should be noted this is unrelated to the massive Takata airbag crisis.

The recall affects model-year 2019-21 A6 sedans and A7 coupes; model-year 2020-21 A6 Allroad wagons, S6 sedans and S7 coupes; and model-year 2021 RS6 sedans and RS7 coupes. The score line on the passenger airbag may not have been manufactured correctly, which could lead to it deploying improperly. VW said the airbag could also eject plastic debris into the cabin. Either way, there’s a risk of injury in the event of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the airbag score line and repair it, as necessary, for free. Audi will begin notifying owners May 7, but those with further questions can call the brand at 800-253-2834, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
