AirDrop: Lucid Cuts Prices on 2024 Air by Thousands
A finalist for Cars.com’s Best Electric Vehicle and Best Luxury Car awards for 2024, as well as the EV with the greatest range of any currently on sale in the U.S., the Lucid Air now has another significant benefit in its favor. Pricing for the 2024 model has dropped substantially, with the base Pure trim level now starting at $71,400 (all prices include the $1,500 destination charge).

Full Line Pricing
In December, Lucid announced initial pricing for the 2024 Air. The company says these new price cuts mean the Air is now “priced as Lucid originally envisioned.” To us, that means Lucid’s pricing will settle here (as opposed to Tesla’s, which seems to change as often as Elon Musk changes his socks). Full line pricing is below, with the amount lopped from previously announced 2024 pricing in parentheses.
- Pure: $71,400 ($7,500 less)
- Touring: $79,400 ($8,000 less)
- Grand Touring: $111,400 (not previously announced)
- Sapphire: $250,500 (unchanged)
Tax and Charging Credits
With the federal EV tax credit only applying to cars with a maximum price below $55,000 (with trucks and SUVs below $80,000), the Air is still ineligible — if purchased. However, there are no price limits on leased EVs, so the credit is available on vehicles that are leased instead of purchased via a commercial credit.
Lucid is also including another type of credit with the 2024 Air: $1,000 toward a home charging station. Additionally, two years of scheduled maintenance are included with every 2024 Lucid.
Powertrains and Range
With an 88-kilowatt-hour battery pack powering a rear-mounted electric motor, the 430-horsepower Air Pure has an EPA-estimated range of 419 miles. All Lucid Airs can DC fast-charge at up to 250 kilowatts, with the Air Pure capable of charging to 200 miles of range in a claimed 17 minutes.
A larger, 92-kWh battery pack means that the Air Touring may eke more miles out of the EPA, though official 2024 figures are not yet available. That’s despite a second motor on the front axle giving it all-wheel drive and a total of 630 hp. Lucid says the time to charge to 200 miles drops to 15 minutes with the larger pack.
Lucid hasn’t confirmed most specifications for the 2024 Grand Touring yet, but they will likely carry over from 2023. The company says it still enjoys 819 hp and a 3.0-second sprint from 0-60 mph. For 2023, the Grand Touring packed a 112-kWh battery good for an astounding 516 miles of estimated range.
If 819 hp still seems insufficient, Lucid offers a 50% increase with the Sapphire, which makes 1,234 hp and boasts a top speed in excess of 200 mph. Range drops significantly, but at an EPA-estimated 427 miles, it still clobbers everything else on the market.
