261,000-Plus VWs, Audis Recalled Over FWD Fuel Leak Fire Risk
Volkswagen’s first big recall of 2024 affects more than 261,200 vehicles across both its lineup and that of its Audi luxury arm. The issue concerns a fuel leak that could lead to a fire.

Affected vehicles include front-wheel-drive examples of model-year 2015-20 Audi A3 sedans and VW Golf and Golf GTI hatchbacks; model-year 2015-19 VW Golf SportWagen wagons; and model-year 2019-20 VW Jetta sedans. Due to a problem with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank, fuel may flow into the evaporative emissions system and possibly leak out of the charcoal canister. Such a leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Dealers will replace the suction pump for free to resolve the issue.
