After letting the previous-generation Frontier languish in showrooms well past its sell-by date, Nissan is working to keep the mid-size pickup truck fresh. Up front, the 2025 Frontier gets new front-end styling. The Pro-X and Pro-4X trims also get new tailgate trim, and a new 17-inch wheel design is standard on the SV. (The Frontier trim levels progress from the entry-level S through the SV and Pro-X, with the SL at the top.) Expanded availability of the long-wheelbase crew-cab configuration — previously only available on the SV — now allows buyers to pair the full-size backseat with a 6-foot bed in the Pro-4X and SL grades, as well.

Additionally, towing capacities are up about 500 pounds across the board, to a maximum of 7,150 pounds. The powertrain is unchanged; a 3.8-liter V-6 putting out 310 horsepower and 281 pounds-feet of torque is still the only available engine. It’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and sends power either to the rear or all four wheels.

Updated Interior, Greatly Improved Safety Tech

The Frontier’s suite of standard safety tech is reinforced for 2025. Previously, only forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection was standard. Now, the truck adds lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors and automatic high beams. The range-topping SL trim also gets standard road-sign recognition.

A redesigned dashboard and telescoping steering wheel are standard on all 2025 Frontiers. The Pro-X and SL trims gain a four-way power passenger seat, and on the SV and higher, the standard power driver’s seat adds two-way adjustable lumbar support.

The SV and higher trim levels get a standard 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the range-topping SL, a power-adjustable passenger seat, 360-degree parking camera and wireless phone charging are now standard. In Off-Road mode, the surround-view cameras now operate at up to 12 mph to better aid in spotting obstacles and placing wheels during technical maneuvers.
