Nissan gave its two-seat sports car a heavy rework for 2023, redesigning it inside and out and replacing the 370Z’s 332-horsepower, naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V-6 engine with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 400 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque. Nissan dropped the number from this generation’s name, now simply calling the car the Z. For the 2024 model year, the standard Z is unchanged, but a new NISMO variant joins the lineup.

What’s New?

The 2024 Z NISMO is a track-focused derivative that gets thoroughly upgraded, with retuned suspension and steering, extra chassis bracing, larger front brakes and unique wheels with high-performance tires. Upgrades to the engine manifest an extra 20 hp and 34 pounds-feet, boosting totals to 420 and 384, respectively. A reshaped nose and tail, plus a taller and wider spoiler, give the NISMO a meaner look.

Powertrains and Fuel Economy

Nissan offers the regular Z with a no-cost choice between a six-speed manual transmission and a nine-speed automatic. For all of its performance focus, the NISMO only comes with a tuned version of the nine-speed automatic, which is sure to complicate the decision for purists who pine for a manual. A true sports car, the Z is only available with rear-wheel drive. The EPA rates manual Zs at 18/24/20 mpg city/highway/combined and cars with the automatic at 19/28/22 mpg. With its more powerful engine, the NISMO drops to 17/24/19 mpg.

Standard Safety Gear

All 2024 Nissan Zs are fitted with the same suite of advanced driver-assist systems. The suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
