2024 Acura ZDX Performance Numbers, Eligibility for Federal EV Tax Credit Announced
Acura is opening the order books for its all-new 2024 ZDX and providing a few more details on the electric SUV in the process. The company has revised a few specifications for the electric powertrain, adjusting its power estimates up and the range estimates down. Perhaps more important, Acura has also revised the ZDX’s effective price by announcing that it will qualify for the maximum federal EV tax credit of $7,500.

Powertrains and Range
Every 2024 Acura ZDX is equipped with a 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The lower of the two available trim levels, the A-Spec, can be had with a single motor on the rear axle producing 358 horsepower and 324 pounds-feet of torque. With another motor on the front axle providing all-wheel drive, the A-Spec generates a total of 490 hp and 437 pounds-feet. Acura estimates the single-motor A-Spec will travel 313 miles on a charge; with AWD, it will go 304 miles (official figures from the EPA are not yet available). Previously, Acura had pegged the rear-drive A-spec at 340 hp and 325 miles of range; specs for the AWD model are new.
The ZDX Type S is only available with AWD, with its dual motors combining for a still-subject-to-change 500 hp and 544 pounds-feet of torque. Its range estimate is 278 miles, down 10 miles from the 288 Acura previously claimed.

- A-Spec: $65,895 ($58,395)

- Type S: $74,895 ($67,395)
Tax Credit Fine Print
The federal EV tax credit requires that the vehicle be assembled in North America. To qualify for the first half of the credit ($3,750), at least 50% of the battery components also must be manufactured in North America. The second $3,750 requires at least 40% of the critical minerals in the battery be extracted or processed in the U.S. or a free-trade partner. Those portions are set to increase 10% every year until 2027, when 90% of the battery components will need to be produced here and 80% of the minerals extracted or processed in a qualifying location.
While the ZDX qualifies for the credit, not all buyers will. Buyer eligibility is based on tax filing status: They cannot have income greater than $300,000 for a household, $225,000 for a head of household or $150,000 for single filers. Customers whose income exceeds those thresholds will have to pay the full amount — unless they’re leasing, in which case none of the income or vehicle-assembly limitations apply.
