2023 Hyundai Kona Shuffles Equipment, Makes More Features Standard
The Hyundai Kona continues to be a top seller for South Korean brand Hyundai. The subcompact SUV includes an impressive array of standard equipment, and in the case of the range-topping Kona N model, performance. For 2023, Hyundai has shuffled some of the Kona’s equipment while also raising the starting price to $23,285 (all pricing includes a $1,295 destination charge).

Shuffled Equipment
For 2023, Hyundai is altering some of the trims and packages that are available for the Kona lineup. Heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and a rear-mounted USB outlet are now standard across all trims.
The automaker has also upped the Kona’s safety game with blind spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance and a safe exit warning system becoming standard for all trim levels (versus being limited to the SEL and higher trims).
Meanwhile, the Kona Electric’s trim ladder has been simplified for 2023, with the SEL Convenience Package being renamed SEL. The electric vehicle’s equipment changes mirror those seen on gas-powered models.
Otherwise, powertrains are carried over from the 2022 model year, with base SE and SEL trims being powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 147 horsepower and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. N Line and Limited trims are powered by a 195-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Kona N carries over a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 276 hp and is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, and the Kona Electric has a 201-hp electric motor and a battery pack that allows the EV to get up to an EPA-rated 258 miles of range between charges.
