Cadillac is taking a two-pronged approach to compact luxury sports sedans — cars like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class — with the all-new CT4 and CT5 sedans. CT4 replaces the ATS; the CT5 replaces the CTS. We’re here with the newest and smallest of the pair, the CT4.
Now, Cadillac is going the one-size-higher strategy, with the CT4’s starting price right around some really small cars like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3, even though its length and wheelbase are more in line with one-size-higher cars like the C-Class and the A4.
The CT4 is bigger than Cadillac’s outgoing ATS, and its softer lines bear a little more of a fastback profile with less going on with the C-pillars than on the CT5. CT4 Sport and higher-performance CT4-V models have unique, darker elements and larger bumper openings.
Until you get to the CT4-V, the look doesn’t necessarily signal which of the CT4’s available turbocharged four-cylinder engines are under the hood, as even the CT4’s toned-down Premium Luxury trim can have its largest engine.
