Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,000 model-year 2019 Mercedes-AMG C43, C63 and C63 S, CLS53, E53, E63 S, S63, S65 and GT53 cars; model-year 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300, CLS450, E300, E450, S450 and S560 cars; model-year 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S560 cars; and model-year 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC300, GLE350 and GLE450 SUVs, all equipped with the Driver Assistance Package

The Problem: A software error in the radar sensor control unit may impair the functionality of active brake assist, which may not automatically apply partial or full braking as expected, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the radar sensor control unit software for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners Sept. 17. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
